Music Videos Inspired by Viral Hits

Viral videos almost always inspire spoofs, parodies, and remakes, and sometimes the remixes are even better than the original. Check out how these viral videos were made into new music videos.

Bill O'Reilly Flips Out- Original Bill O'Reilly Flips Out- Dance Remix
When FOX news anchor, Bill O’Reilly, gets heated on air, are you ever curious what he’s like off-camera? Wonder no more, just watch this clip from his time as an anchor for the tabloid television program, Inside Edition. Not only does this remix showcase O’Reilly’s hysterical outburst, it actually has a pretty good beat. Nicely done.

Miss Teen South Carolina- The Original Hey There Miss South Carolina Miss Teen South Carolina Dance Remix
Caitlin Upton, also known as Miss Teen South Carolina, didn’t win the 2007 Miss Teen USA Beauty Pageant, but her botched pageant answer did receive more than 35 million views on YouTube, making her one of the biggest internet stars of 2007. Although there have been hundreds of parodies of this embarrassing event, the next two are some of the best. This indie song is set to the melody of “Hey There Delilah” by the Plain White T’s and is dedicated to Miss Teen South Carolina. This could be better than the original, but that's not saying much. You can’t say Miss Teen South Carolina’s answer was good for nothing, it makes a pretty good dance remix.

Chocolate Rain- The Original Cherry Chocolate Rain- Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper Ad Chad Vader Does Chocolate Rain
This internet phenomenon was posted on YouTube on April 22, 2007. By early May it had already received more than 22 million views. The 25-year-old singer, Tay Zonday, has become even more well-known by doing internet advertisements, performing on various TV shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live, and most recently, making a guest appearance on South Park. This professionally shot music video was released on November 28, 2007 as part of a promotional campaign for Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper. This music video features the same famous melody as the original Chocolate Rain, modified lyrics, and the artist Mista Johnson. Although Chad Vader is an internet star in his own right, his Chocolate Rain parody got him more exposure than ever. With this new found singing talent maybe Chad Vader can finally leave his job as day-shift manager at the Empire Market Supermarket and become as well-known as his famous brother Darth.

Don’t Tase Me Bro- Original Don’t Tase Me Bro Rap Remix
In this viral video Andrew Meyer, a 21-year-old University of Florida student is tased and restrained by police officers during the question and answer part of a Speech given by John Kerry. After questioning Kerry’s concession of the 2004 elections, his involvement in the same secret society as President George W. Bush, and his lack of involvement in the movement to impeach President Bush, the organizers of the event asked security to remove the student, and the rest is history. This is one of the better music videos made for “Don’t Tase Me Bro.” However, “Don’t Tase Me Bro” inspired more than just YouTube responses. Mick Jones, the former rocker of the Clash, and current member of the punk band Carbon/Silicon, has written a song entitled “Don’t Tase Me Bro,” which was inspired by the incident at UF.

Dramatic Chipmunk- Original The Dramatic Chipmunk Does Thriller
This 5 second clip needs no introduction and has been parodied hundreds of time. Check out our favorite Dramatic Chipmunk music video to the right. Who knew the famed prairie dog could give Michael Jackson a run for his money.
